Appropriate qualification (MBBCh / MBChB) that allows registration with the HPCSA as a MEDICAL PRACTITIONER and proof of current registration; Grade 1: No experience required after registration as MEDICAL PRACTITIONER with the HPCSA; Grade 2: A minimum of 5 years’ appropriate experience after registration with HPCSA as a MEDICAL PRACTITIONER; Grade 3: A minimum of 10 years’ appropriate experience after registration with HPCSA as a MEDICAL PRACTITIONER. Ability and willingness to perform medico-legal death investigations, including performance of forensic autopsies; expected to give evidence in Courts and willingness to perform duties outside of normal hours and away from base of employment when required. A valid driver’s licence; and computer literacy (MS Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint). Willingness to obtain the CMSA Dip For Med (SA) qualification within 1 year to 24 months; Good working knowledge of relevant FPS legislation; Good written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
Duties :

Providing comprehensive medico-legal investigation of death services, performance of forensic post mortem examinations including medico-legal autopsies, inclusive after-hour services during the week and over weekends, , preparation of relevant medico-legal reports and court attendance; Supporting the implementation of a standardised, quality forensic pathology service; Completing documents for statistical and data analysis purposes; Participation in academic activities in the Department; Assisting the Head: of Clinical Department and Head of Clinical Unit in service and management duties; Rendering other related professional services and duties as may be assigned from time to time.
