Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as Medical Specialist in a Obstetrics and Gyanecology or sub-specialty. Registration with the HPCSA as Medical Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology is mandatory and current registration. A minimum of three (3) years appropriate experience working in Obstetrics and Gyanecology as Medical specialist or sub-speciality. Experience of training registrars in Obstetrics and Gynaecology fellows in the various sub-specialities will be added as an advantage. Experience with administration, management, finance, research is desirable. COMPETENCIES /KNOWLEDGE /SKILLS: A sound knowledge of government regulations, policies, and acts is needed including the ability to interpret and implement policies. The following are required attributes; Teambuilding; People and interpersonal relations skills; Communication skills (verbal and written); Organizational problem-solving. The candidate should be highly motivated and enthusiastic in the care of women with obstetrics and gynaecological conditions. The ability to work under pressure, lead transformational change in a complex environment and the ability to manage change in the department is also important.
Duties :

Manage and run a clinical department in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at CHBAH. Perform clinical duties in areas of personal special interest and expertise. Ensure that clinical services are provided. Active participation in administrative duties of the department which include planning, budgeting, PMDS, student assessments. Comply with the Performance and development System (Contracting, six monthly reviews and final assessments). To collaborate and assist the Director of Clinical Services at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital and the Cluster Hospitals whenever needed, in service delivery, teaching and training as an outreach programme. Ensure that appropriate, ethical, and quality research is performed in the department as part of a wider agenda to explore improvements in health care in the Chris Hani Baragwanath area and South Africa as a whole with publication of the results in peer-reviewed scientific journals. As part of the University’s responsibility, sufficient and quality teaching must be provided to undergraduate, postgraduates and Fellows. Participate in the Fellowship examinations of the College of Medicine South Africa and assist the HPCSA in its accreditation for Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the cluster . Ensure the employment of the previously disadvantaged individuals in terms of race, gender, and disability to enhance equity. Perform commuted overtime as per departmental requirement. Contribute to departmental planning, budgeting, and procurement processes as well as monitoring and evaluation.
