Requirements :

  • Appropriate Degree/Diploma in Nursing (General, Midwifery, Psychiatry and Community Health science) or equivalent qualification. Registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse. Proof of current registration. Grade 1: No experience required. Grade2: A minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. Experience working in the travel clinic will be an added advantage. Must be willing to travel and work irregular hours and holidays. A valid Driver’s Licence. Competencies needed: Ability to work under pressure and in a changing environment. Excellent communication (written, verbal, presentation and liaison skills). Have ability to work independently. Good interpersonal skills. Demonstrate effective communication with patients, supervisors and other clinicians, including report writing when required. Work as part of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure good nursing care. Work effectively, co-operatively amicably with persons of diverse cultural, racial or religious differences. Able to plan and organize own work and that of support personnel to ensure proper nursing care. Display a concern for patients, promoting and advocating proper treatment and care including awareness and willingness to respond to patient’s needs, requirements and expectations. Create and maintain complete and accurate nursing records for individual healthcare users. Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Access, Power point). Report writing. Knowledge of the Batho Pele Principles, Patient and Right Charter.

Duties :

  • Demonstrate an in depth understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical Nursing Practice and how this impact on service delivery. Demonstrate effective knowledge of travel health, Travel Vaccines and Adult vaccination schedule, Provision of Yellow Fever Vaccines, issuing of valid Yellow Fever Certificates according to the International Health Regulation (IHR) 2005. Knowledge of Malaria Program and guidelines including malaria chemoprophylaxis and malaria elimination strategy 2023. Extensive knowledge of the international Health regulation 2005 and malaria elimination strategy. Management of cold chain and vaccine storage. Management of stock. Willing to learn from the supervisor and other health practitioners, Render quality customer care. Promote application of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices. Perform nursing duties in accordance with the scope of practice and nursing standards. Collate and analyze relevant data and compile reports.
