REQUIREMENTS: National Senior Certificate. MBCHB or MBBCH Current registration with health professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an independent medical practitioner. Knowledge and experience in medical surgical management. Good written and verbal communication. Ability to work under pressure. Commuted overtime is compulsory. Recommendation: Completion of BSS, valid ATLS and completion of the college of medicine part 1 examination is a strong recommendation.
Duties :

DUTIES: Successful candidates will be responsible for the rendering of clinical services, which include after hours of work (weekdays and weekends) to provide continuous uninterrupted patient care. Interview, investigate, oversee, treat, and manage surgical patients in all areas required e.g. ICU, HC. SOPD, Wards, Endoscopy, Wound clinic, Resus, ED, inter-departmental consultations, theatre and common paediatric surgical emergencies e.g. Burns and acute appendicitis. Supervision and training of community service doctors, Medical interns and medical students. Participate in department activities in relation to teaching and research. Ensure proper and accurate record keeping as legally and ethically required. Provision of quality cost effective services in keeping with batho pele principles. Participate in departmental audit activities. Participate in mortality meetings, near miss meeting and completing medico-legal documents timeously e.g. 120 Death certificates. Implement and monitor National Core Standards (norms and standards) and reduce medical litigation by exercising good clinical ethos.
