Requirements :

  • Senior/National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) and Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery plus MMed (Surg) or FCS (SA). Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Microsurgical skills. Proof of current registration with the HPCSA from 01 April 2026 to 31 March 2027. Medical Specialist Grade 1 no experience after registration with HPCSA, Medical Specialist Grade 2 - A minimum of 05 years’ experience after registration with HPCSA and Medical Specialist Grade 3 - A minimum of 10 years’ experience after registration with HPCSA in a normal Speciality.

Duties :

  • Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery case load management including surgical clinics, wards and theatre. The incumbent must be willing to render services at SBAH Hospital. This is a joint appointment between the University of Pretoria (Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery) and Steve Biko Academic Hospital. Experience in teaching and learning, supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students. Furthermore, all academic appointees are expected to engage in active research. A research degree will be a definite advantage.
