Requirements :

• MBChB and appropriate qualifications that allow registration with HPCSA as an Independent Medical Practitioner. Current registration with HPCSA as an Independent Medical Practitioner. Completion of the DCH or part 1 of the FCP (SA) examination and two year’s experience in relevant clinical discipline will be added advantage. Ability to diagnose and manage common medical problems including emergencies. Demonstrate the ability to work as a part of a multidisciplinary team. Good communication, leadership, interpersonal and decision making qualities. Knowledge of current Health Legislation and policies as it relates to Public Institutions.

Duties :

• Duties will include delivering clinical care to all in-patients and out-patients in the service unit allocated and keep proper clinical records. The main responsibility will be to assess, evaluate and manage patients in Paediatrics and Child Health, including performance of overtime duties (after hours, public holidays and weekends). The candidate will be expected to do patient related administrative tasks and schedule follow-up outpatient appointments. Training junior staff (Interns) and promote on-going staff development in accordance with individual and departmental needs. The successful candidate will be expected to attend and participate in all academic meetings and do case and journal presentation at these meetings and make satisfactory academic progress Conduct, collaborate and participate in research activities within the department, satisfactory clinical, professional and ethical standards in the department. The successful candidate will work independently but will be supervised by a Specialist Paediatrician.
