Requirements :

  • MBChB degree; Fellowship of the College of Surgeons (SA); Certificate in Vascular surgery (SA). Fellowship training in Vascular Surgery is required. HPCSA registration and certification in General Surgery and Vascular Surgery (registered). Demonstrated experience in surgical practice and patient care in the field of Vascular surgery. Strong commitment to teaching and mentorship, with demonstrated experience in an academic setting. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Duties :

  • Clinical Services Delivery: Perform a wide range of surgical procedures related to vascular diseases, including but not limited to Elective and Emergency Vascular surgeries, and minimally invasive techniques in vascular surgery. Conduct thorough assessments, diagnostics, and follow-up care for patients with vascular conditions. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs Ensure adherence to safety protocols and best practices in surgical care. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality clinical services, engage in research initiatives, and contribute to the education and training of both undergraduate and postgraduate medical students. This role requires a commitment to patient-centered care, innovation in surgical techniques, and academic excellence. Research: Engage in clinical and translational research aimed at advancing the field of colorectal surgery. Contribute to the development of research proposals, grant applications, and publication of findings in peer-reviewed journals. Present research findings at national and international conferences to share knowledge and gain feedback from peers. Foster collaborations with other departments and institutions to enhance research opportunities. Teaching: - Provide high-quality education and training to both Postgraduate and undergraduate medical students through lectures, hands-on workshops, and clinical rotations. Mentor postgraduate surgical residents, providing guidance on clinical skills, surgical techniques, and professional development. Participate in the development and implementation of curricula for surgical education, ensuring alignment with current best practices and advancements in colorectal surgery. Evaluate and assess student performance, providing constructive feedback to promote learning and improvement. Working Conditions: The position may involve evening and weekend duties as required. Participation in on-call schedules for emergency cases.
