Requirements :

• Grade 12 / Senior Certificate and a minimum of N3 theory in Carpentry or an equivalent relevant qualification; and A recognised Trade Test Certificate in Carpentry and Woodwork; A minimum requirements of 2 years’ experience in general carpentry maintenance and repairs in a hospital or maintenance environment. A valid South African Code B driver's license will be an added advantage; Good communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Good planning, organizing and problem-solving skills; Ability to work under pressure and meet prescribed deadlines; and Willingness to perform standby, overtime, weekend and public holiday duties when required.

Duties :

• The successful candidate will be responsible for, amongst others, the following: Perform general maintenance, repairs and installation work relating to carpentry and woodwork in accordance with approved work requests and e-Maintenance requirements; Attend to reported defects relating to cupboards, doors, ceilings, shelves, counters and other carpentry-related installations within prescribed timeframes; Manufacture, install, repair and maintain cupboards, counters, shelves, doors and other carpentry structures and fittings; Conduct inspections and assessments of carpentry-related installations to identify defects, damage, deterioration or maintenance requirements; Assess maintenance requests, determine the nature and extent of work required, and identify the materials, tools and equipment necessary to complete assigned tasks; Provide timely feedback to the Supervisor regarding required materials, equipment, additional work or defects requiring further intervention; Ensure that completed work complies with required quality, safety and service standards; Record and close completed maintenance requests and provide supporting evidence of completed work to the Supervisor; Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a safe, clean and serviceable condition; Report unsafe conditions, defects, damage, material shortages or other maintenance-related concerns to the Supervisor without delay; Plan and organize daily work activities to meet prescribed service standards and maintenance objectives; Adhere to occupational health and safety requirements, departmental policies, procedures and applicable technical standards; Perform standby and overtime duties, including weekends and public holidays, when required; and Perform any other reasonable duties within the scope of the post as delegated by the Supervisor.
