Requirements :

  • A Senior Certificate plus a three-year tertiary qualification (NQF level 6/7) in Fine Arts / Creative Industries / Heritage / Performing Arts / Visual Arts or related qualification as recognized by SAQA. No experience is required. Relevant experience will be an added advantage. A valid driver’s license. No criminal record. SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE: Organizational skills. Computer literacy (MS. package). Duties :

  • Facilitate transformation of performing and visual arts to impact on socio-economic development. Promote and develop community/public based arts, culture and heritage programmes. Establish and maintain partnerships with relevant stakeholders. Manage the implementation of youth development programmes and projects. Promote socio-cultural development of vulnerable groups. Identify and support the development of high impact job creation areas and skills development in arts, culture and heritage sector. Promote the culture of reading and writing, SA craft, music sector and technical service industries and multimedia (audio-visual, design, visuals arts) sector. Design and conduct awareness campaigns to promote arts and culture programmes. Liaise with all relevant stakeholders. Conduct research on arts and culture programmes. Promote usage of Arts Centre’s and integrated crafts hubs. Promote and develop community/public based arts and culture programmes. Coordinate the establishment and provide support to arts and culture structure. Implement policies and strategies for arts, culture and heritage sector. Provide advice to all relevant stakeholders on arts and culture matters. Coordinate the establishment and provide support to arts and culture structure. Implement policies and strategies for arts, culture and heritage sector. Provide advice to all relevant stakeholders on arts and culture matters. Monitor and evaluate funded projects and programmes. Develop and maintain database of arts, culture and heritage institutions. Provide administration and technical support for arts and culture programmes. Monitoring the implementation of approved programmes for all funded organizations and institutions. Coordinate and ensure provision of coaching, discipline and mentoring of staff to improve performance. Supervise the performance of staff and ensure assessment of their performance. Consolidate budget in the sub – directorate. Monitor the budget and expenditure. Manage the compilation of various reports and statistics. Supervise leaves in the sub - directorate.

All shortlisted candidates for SMS posts will be subjected to a technical exercise and interview. Following the technical exercise and interview, a maximum of three (3) SMS candidates will undergo psychometric assessments to assess cognitive capabilities, behavioural preferences, emotional intelligence, and integrity.
