Requirements :

  • Grade 12 Certificate. A Basic R.425 or equivalent qualification that allows for registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse. Midwife and Accoucheur. Diploma in any SANC R.212 or R.48 programmes. A Degree in Nursing Education and Nursing Administration, current registration with SANC. Moderator and Assessor certificates. Minimum of 9 years’ appropriate/recognized nursing experience after registration as a Professional Nurse, Midwife/ Accoucheur. A minimum of five (5) years’ recognizable experience in Nursing Education after obtaining a post-basic qualification in Nursing Education. 5 years’ experience in student affairs department as a Professional Officer. (3) years’ recognizable experience in Psychiatric Nursing/ Counselling Department. Thorough knowledge and application of the SANC legislation, Nursing Standard, public service prescripts, legislation relevant to Higher Education and experience in planning, organizing, monitoring and evaluation, good communication, supervisory, report writing, presentation skills, Ability to work in a team and under pressure. Computer literacy (Ms Excel, Word and PowerPoint). A Valid driver's license.

Duties :

  • Management and supervision of the Student Affairs, Development and Counselling Departments e.g plan, implement and manage Student Affairs, counselling and Development activities. Provide personal, social academic and administrative guidance. Determine and interpret Postgraduate Diploma students’ needs on an individual and collective basis. Advocate plan and manage the implementation of strategies to resolve problems where necessary. Implement educational programmes for students to improve their learning experience . manage the support service of all students. Assists with the provision of the employee wellness service. Develop reports, monitor reporting systems and instruments. Manage a students termination, course extension and appeals. Plan and organize students’ graduation and price giving ceremonies. Engage in formative and summative examination processes including population of assessment marks and results publications. Participation in policies, guidelines, norms and standards. Manage the pre-course assessments, students recruitment, selection and admission processes. Knowledge of SANC and CHE accreditation processes requirements to ensure that all Postgraduate Diploma programmes offered are fully accredited. Manage, supervise, monitor and report on all Student Affairs and Student Counselling staff. Facilitate budget needs of the departments.
