Requirements :

  • Registration with SAPC as a qualified Pharmacist Assistant Basic. Current proof of valid registration with the SAPC as a Pharmacist Assistant Basic- and Proof of payment. Competencies: Good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. Basic knowledge of pharmaceutical process, relevant legislation and policies, record keeping and drug supply management. Work effectively in a team.

Duties :

  • The incumbent of the post will work under direct supervision of a pharmacist. Assist with the distribution and control of stock of Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medicine or scheduled medicine in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures and legislation. Assist with stock control which includes receiving issuing and maintenance of stock, bulk compounding of stock in accordance with good manufacturing practice and Standard Operating Procedures applying FIFO and FEFO. Assist with stock control and the distribution of stock to the clients (wards, pharmacies etc. but excludes the issue of medicine to patients). To assist with the compounding, manipulation or preparation of a non- sterile medicine or scheduled substance according to a formulae and Standard Treatment Guidelines approved by the responsible pharmacist. The re-packaging of medicine in accordance with repackaging documentation prepared by the pharmacist. Compliance to Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP). Partake in stock take activity within the hospital. Patient management. Ensuring patients are assisted efficiently and timeously. The provision of information to individuals in order to promote health. Perform any other duties delegated by Supervisor/Manager.
