Requirements :

  • Grade 10 /AET level 4 certificate or Equivalent Qualification. Must be able to read and write. 1 year of Porters experience in a hospital environment will be an added advantage. Good communication and good interpersonal skills. Must be prepared to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays. Applicants should have an understanding in Batho Pele Principle. Ability to work effectively in a team. Be able to work under pressure.

Duties :

  • Assist with loading patients in/out of Ambulances and private vehicles. Accompany walking patients and on-walking patients from reception/casualty to the wards and other service points. Transporting patients on wheelchairs and or stretchers. Help nursing staff with the transfer of patients to other wards. Carry Medical documentation of patients to the wards and other service points. Collection of corpses from the wards to the mortuary and loading corpses into the shelves. Responsible for the cleaning of pottering equipment (wheelchairs and stretchers). Report and take care of broken wheelchairs and stretchers.
