Requirements :

  • Grade 12 with an appropriate qualification that allows for the required registration with the Health Professionals Council of South Africa (HPCSA), as an Occupational Therapy Technician. Knowledge in Community- Base Rehabilitation (CBR) and Primary Health Care services. Valid registration with HPCSA and currently registered. Grade 1: Less than 10 years’ relevant experience after registration with HPCSA as an Occupational Therapy Technician. Grade 2: 10 years and more relevant experience after registration with HPCSA as an Occupational Therapy Technician. Valid drivers’ license is essential. Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team. Problem Solving Skills and innovative skills.

Duties :

  • Suitable candidate will be expected to render effective patient centred Occupational Therapy services in a clinic and community setting in adherence to the scope of practice and health protocols. Do outreach to the surrounding clinics around the area of responsibility (base team) Conduct home visits where required. Plan and conduct group exercise class and Task Centered Groups. Demonstrate the ability to conduct and participate in health promotion, prevention, curative and disability awarenesses. Issue assistive devices (as per Occupational therapy needs identified). Submit detailed daily and monthly reports and stats using the available departmental tool within set timelines. Do outreach to the surrounding NGOs and screenings for ECI (Early Childhood Intervention). Work closely with multidisciplinary team members. Carry out delegated duties by supervisor or manager. Participate in continuous professional development activities. Establish support groups and run projects as identified with multidisciplinary team members. Participate in research projects in the district. Attend and participate in Occupational Therapy monthly meetings.
