Requirements :

Degree in Ultrasound or a two years postgraduate degree in Ultrasound or relevant qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as an Ultrasound. Certificate of registration with the HPCSA, with the current registration 2026/2027. A minimum of one year Community Service after completing the four years Ultrasound Degree qualification or four years working experience as a Diagnostic Radiographer with a two years Postgraduate Degree in Ultrasound. Knowledge of public service legislations, policies and procedures. Skills on the following areas: Supervisory, organizing, communication, computer literacy, interpersonal relationship, ultrasound quality assurance, accreditation standards and knowledge of specialized ultrasound procedures and equipment.
Duties :

Ultrasound departmental operational management. Manage and monitor performance and development of student Ultrasound Radiographers clinical training. Plan, organize and supervise the provision of the Ultrasound services according to the vision and mission statements of the department of Health. Provide professional advice in issues pertaining to policies and legislation related to health. Stock control and ordering. Ensure that there is enough stock for special examinations. Ensure compliance with the PFMA, National Core Standards and departmental policies and regulations. Be mindful of ultrasound departmental waiting times and explore innovative solutions to reduce them. Problem solving and complains management. Ensure that healthy and safe systems of work are maintained and that all possible steps are taken to prevent accidents and reduce hazards to occupational health. Liaise with Doctors and Nurses allocated in the Sonar department regarding daily scanning of patients. Provide diagnostic ultrasound imaging and reporting. Ensure that QA equipment protocols are in place.

The information on the new Z83 must be in sync/correspond with the Curriculum Vitae. Only shortlisted candidates will be required/requested to submit certified copies of qualifications, service certificate and other relevant documents on or before the interview. Candidates in possession of a foreign qualification will be required to furnish the Department with an evaluation certificate from the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). HR will conduct Personnel Suitability Checks (PSC) and Verification Checks. The Department reserve the right to conduct verification beyond information provided, where necessary. Failure to submit all the relevant information mentioned above with the exception of HR verification checks, will result in the candidate being disqualify.
