Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) in Dietetics. Registration with the HPCSA in Dietetics. A minimum of 3 years appropriate experience after registration with HPCSA in Dietetics. The following will serve as an added advantage: 10 years of appropriate experience in the Dietetics profession in an academic institution after registration with the HPCSA as a Dietician. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in management. Knowledge and Skills: Management skills, Supervisory, Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation, Organizational and Analytical skills, Problem-solving, Good Financial Management skills, and Excellent written and communication skills. Computer literacy. Knowledge of the public service legislation, policies and procedures. Understanding the importance of multi-disciplinary teamwork. Experience in the management of food service. Ability to work under pressure in a changing environment. Must have a code 8 driver’s licence.
Duties :

Responsible for the implementation of clinical strategies, policies, and plans that are in line with the strategic objectives of the Gauteng Health Department. Develop operational plans and demand plans for the Human Nutrition Department in line with the set organizational plans. Develop standard operating procedures to attain the formulated goals and objectives of the Department of Health. Plan the budget in line with the estimated client requirements and ensure that production capacity, consumables and non- consumables goods, equipment and staff are available to achieve agreed output targets. Maintain and implement a human resource plan and ensure effective staff utilization. Ensure that PMDS is implemented across the Human Nutrition Department. Management of Human Resources in line with PFMA. Monitor the close link between the institution and the district in line with the required National and Provincial targets. Monitor the implementation of the risk management program within the hospital. Ensure adherence to the HPCSA requirements for self-development and development of others. Ensure that the department is compliant with the National Core Standards and Ideal Hospital Realization program. To ensure the service provision of and human resources training are in keeping with National, Provincial, and Institutional policies. To ensure the practice of good quality financial management using the Public Financial Management Act (1999). This act promotes good financial management in order to maximize service delivery through the effective and efficient use of limited resources. To ensure that the student training complies with the required competencies and outcomes. To promote and facilitate staff development programs for capacity building and career-paths. To promote counselling and guidance when required and to adhere to a code of patient confidentiality. To ensure that the right calibre of personnel is recruited and that appointments conform to Employment Equity requirements and also put in place mechanisms to recruit and retain staff. To provide inputs in the decision-making and recommendations with the regard to procurement of equipment and consumables. To monitor expenditure and implement innovative methods of using available financial and human resources to meet the goal. To be responsible for the safekeeping and use of state/ institutional assets in the department. To apply leadership and strategic management skills when planning, coordinating, and implementing protocols/ guidelines/ standards operation procedures in order to streamline dietetics services according to prescribed referral patterns. To identify, evaluate, and address risks on a continuous basis before such risks can impact negatively on the departments’ service delivery. To take calculated risks in a manner that does not jeopardize the direct interest of stakeholders. To anticipate and respond to changes in the business environment and make informed decisions under conditions of uncertainty. To participate and make inputs at institutional and provincial management meetings.

Registrars will be required to rotate between the different institutions. Preference will be given to South African citizens. The performance of normal and commuted overtime is not mandatory; however, it will be based on the operational needs of the hospitals.
