Requirements :

• MBChB or equivalent. FC Ophth (SA) and MMed (Ophth). Registration as a specialist Ophthalmologist with the HPCSA and proof of current registration. Competencies: Excellent communication skill, good professional judgement, integrity, and professional dependability. conflict management resolution. Technology and computer skills. Leadership experience. Cost containment. Problem solving skills. Coaching and mentoring experience. Strong focus on developing and implementing research ETHOS. Patient centred approach mentality. General management skills.

Duties :

• Clinical management of general medical patients in OPD. Attending patients in relevant Subspecialty and general OPD and doing ward rounds. Coordinating subspecialty services at HJH for both inpatient and outpatient services. Overseeing the development of appropriate referral pathways. Train and supervise registrars, medical officers and medical students in patient care, diagnostic, treatment and surgical procedures. Supervise with research within the department and MMed students. Provide medical support and guidance to nursing staff. Commuted overtime is compulsory.
