Requirements :

  • Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as a Specialist in Paediatric. Registration with the HPCSA as Medical Specialist in Paediatric or Paediatric Neurology. No experience required after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Paediatric. The following will be added advantages: Registration as Paediatric Neurologist.

Duties :

  • The candidate will be responsible for the clinical care of neurology and general Paediatric inpatient and outpatient. The incumbent will be required to conduct operational and academic ward rounds including post-intake, follow-up and grand rounds. As the senior doctor, the incumbent will be required to supervise, train and teach registrars, medical officers, intern doctors and students. The desired candidate will be expected to demonstrate exemplary conduct as a medical practitioner and serve as a role model and clinical mentor to junior doctors’ multidisciplinary team. The incumbent will also be required to conduct research within the department and supervise the research of MMed students. Additionally, the candidate will be required to provide medical support and guidance to the multidisciplinary team and to comply with the performance management and development system within the public sector. Training in paediatric neurology can be arranged.

The performance of normal and commuted overtime is not mandatory; however, it will be based on the operational needs of the hospitals.
