Requirements :

  • Grade 12/National Senior certificate. Basic R425 qualification (i.e Diploma/Degree in nursing or equivalent that allows registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse. A minimum of ten (10) years of appropriate recognizable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANCE in General Nursing and Midwifery. At least three (6) years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognizable experience in specific specialty (trauma). At least a period of 3 years of the period above must be appropriate/recognizable experience in management level. Must have Health Services Nursing Administration with a duration of at least 1 year. Basic computer literacy is mandatory. Candidate will be requested to work shifts.

Duties :

  • Monitor, supervise and coordinate the provision of effective and efficient patient care through adequate nursing care. Ensure that the general and trauma/ICU nursing is rendered by the nursing team in accordance with the scope of practice and nursing standards. Manage your own work and that of units reporting to the post and to ensure appropriate interventions to enhance quality nursing services care. Monitor and ensure proper utilization of human, financial and physical resources. Display a concern for patients, promoting, advocating and facilitating proper treatment and care. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of grievance and disciplinary processes. Monitor the implementation and adherence to Batho Pele principles. Ensure that the Trauma/ICU and High Care Nursing procedures and management as per scope or practice are implemented. Ensure ongoing monitoring and evaluation of Surgery/ trauma services. Develop and maintain constructive working relationships with nursing and other stakeholders. Coordinate and facilitate the implementation of CPD (Continuous Staff Development). Manage resolve and report the complaints timeously. Participate in the analysis, formulation and the implementation of nursing guidelines, SOP’s, policies and procedures. Participate in professional growth, ethical standards development of self and subordinates through on-going training and Research. Knowledge and understanding of IHRM and its implementation to improve service delivery. Evaluate staff performance adhering to the PMDS policy.

Candidates in possession of a foreign qualification will be required to furnish the Department with an evaluation certificate from the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). Failure to submit all the relevant information mentioned above with the exception of HR verification checks will result in the candidate being disqualified.
