Basic R425 qualification (i.e. Diploma /Degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with SANC as a professional nurse. A post basic nursing qualification/PgDip (Midwifery) with a duration of at least one year, accredited with the SANC. Proof of current registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse. A minimum of 04 years appropriate /recognisable experience in Nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
Duties :

Demonstrate an understanding of nursing legislation and related and ethical nursing practice. Perform clinical nursing practice in accordance with the scope of practice and nursing standards of required speciality. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure good nursing care. Ability to function as a team leader in the department. Effective communication with supervisors, clinicians and patients. Able to plan, manage own time and organise own work and that of support personnel to ensure proper nursing care. Experience and knowledge in maternal and neonatal programmes e.g. Vertical transmission programme, essential steps in management of obstetric emergencies, youth friendly services, contraceptives and fertility planning, baby friendly initiative. Display a concern for patients, promoting and advocating for proper treatment and care including awareness and willingness to respond to patient’s needs, requirements and expectations. Willing to work shifts, night duty, weekends and public holidays. Knowledgeable in aspects of Ideal hospital realisation and maintenance framework, complaints management system and management of patient safety incidents. Willing to attend in-service trainings relevant to area of responsibility and share information. Possess good communication skills, planning and organising skills, problem solving and decision making skills and computer skills. Display a professional image that is adhering to uniform policy and SANC regulation on distinguishing devices
