NQF level 1 or 2 (Abet level 4 certificate or equivalent). No experience required. Knowledge of Batho-Pele Principles. Provide excellent level of customer care to both internal and external customers. Possesses good communication skills, work shifts including weekends and public holidays (compulsory work). Be able to rotate between the wards when required. Honest and reliable, possesses physical strength and able to cope with physical demands of the position. Proper application of OHS guidelines. Be able to work in a team. Take instructions from the supervisor.
Duties :
-
Take the diet slip to the main kitchen, transport food trolleys from the food service unit to the wards vice versa. Serve meals and tea to patients under supervision of nursing staff, submit containers to the main kitchen, keep the kitchen clean and tidy, wash dishes in the ward, do damp-dusting of ward equipment, take unsterile equipment to CSSD, fetch sterile packs from CSSD and pack in relevant cupboards. Receive, count and pack clean ward linen. Count, sort and pack dirty/ soiled linen in linen bags. Label and tie dirty linen bags and place at relevant area, keep the sluice room equipment clean. Tie and move filled red plastics /Medical waste & sharps containers to the dedicated collection area in the ward, replace red plastics. Take orders to stores, pharmacy and fetch emergency stock and TTO’s. Adhere to Health waste Management Policy. Be able to rotate between the wards when required.
