Requirements :

  • Grade 12. Degree in Occupational Therapy. Registration with the Health Professional Council (HPCSA) as an independent Occupational Therapy practitioner, and proof of current registration.

Duties :

  • Provide comprehensive Occupational Therapy services to adult or adolescent Mental Health Care users (Acute, Forensic and or Longer stay MHCU). Follow prescribed Occupational Therapy processes including assessment/s, compiling a problem list, treatment planning and executing the planned treatment (individual and group sessions). Execute all patient related recordkeeping tasks according to the standards set by Quality assurance principles. Actively participate in program planning within the Unit. Execute planned group sessions as planned. Participate in the annual de-institutionalization program. Work effectively in a multi discipline team and a treatment unit based on the group of MHCU. Do general and assigned administrative duties. Participate and supervise allocated students per annual program. Participate in the WKH OT department CPD program. Follow the PMDS program and supervision of assigned OTT / OTA.
