Requirements :

• A minimum of Grade 10 or equivalent qualification. Basic security course, i.e Grade C with renewed PSIRA certificate with a minimum of one year appropriate experience in security industry. Knowledge of access control procedures to the public premises and vehicles Act 53 of 1985, trespass Act 06 of 1959, MISS, MPSS, OHSA Act of 83 of 1993, mental health Act, criminal procedure Act, PSIRA act, PFMA, Batho-pele principles and ministerial quality priorities for Health. Have a good interpersonal skill. No criminal record or pending cases, and the candidate must be able to work shifts, that includes weekends, public holidays and night shifts. Be able to work independently and as a team. Be able to work with different patients within the hospital, including mental health patients. Previous experience in the public service will serve as an added advantage.

Duties :

• To operate CCTV, ensure that the CCTV room is never left unattended. Maintain and provide access control to the hospital premises. Assist with restraining of violent patients, assist in tracing of missing patients as per circular 15 of 2004. Be visible and patrol all wards, hospital hot spots. Clamping of incorrectly parked vehicles in line with Gauteng provincial government department of health parking policy and SOP. Apprehend intruders or any lawbreakers; escort visitors, patients, staff, and contractors. Safeguard patients, personnel, and hospital assets. Update all security registers in the control room; inform the supervisor of all security incidents. Provide support in case of emergency, confirm the appointment and refer the visitor to the relevant service delivery point, check the lights switch on and off. Ensure that unauthorized and dangerous objects do not enter the hospital. Report all identified security breaches and non-compliance to the supervisor, check that doors are locked as required. Ensure that water leaks and lunging electric cables are reported. Ensure that no GG vehicle leave premises without trip request and authority. Assist nurses with patients in possessions of firearms. Disarming and storage of firearms in designated lockable and compliant storage in line with control of firearms act.

Candidates in possession of a foreign qualification will be required to furnish the Department with an evaluation certificate from the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). HR will conduct Personnel Suitability Checks (PSC) and Verification Checks. The Department reserve the right to conduct verification beyond information provided, where necessary. Failure to submit all the relevant information mentioned above with the exception of HR verification checks, will result in the candidate being disqualify.
