Requirements :

  • Grade 12. A bachelor’s degree in social work. Registration with the South African Council for Social Services Profession (SACSSP) as a Social Worker. Knowledge of appropriate policies and legislation, including ethical prescripts with the field of mental health and social work.

Duties :

  • Provide Social Work services to mental health care users and their families. Psychosocial assessment of mental health care users and their families with regards to their circumstances. Conduct home visits to trace family members and provide reintegration services. Intervention through casework, group work and community work. Work effectively as a member of the multi professional team. Attend to court referrals. Compile comprehensive psychosocial reports, adhering to record keeping standards and all administrative tasks. Engage in continuous professional development and in service training. Provide student training.
