Requirements :

  • Grade 12/National Senior certificate. Basic R425 qualification (i.e. Diploma / Degree) in nursing or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the SANC as a professional nurse and midwife. A minimum of eight (8) years appropriate recognizable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. At least three (3) years of the period referred to above must be appropriate / recognizable experience at management level. Candidate must have a qualification in Health Services Management. Basic computer literacy is mandatory. Skills: strong leadership skills, good communication, conflict management / problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure. Candidate will be required to work shifts.

Duties :

  • Delegate, supervise and coordinate the provision of effective and efficient patient care through adequate nursing care. Maintain accuracy and integrity in collation and consolidation of midnight statistics. Monitor the flow of patients from Emergency unit and provide informed directives for continuity of care without delays. Monitor and ensure proper utilization of human, financial and physical resources for different departments including effective bed management. Ensure effective and consistent communication amongst relevant stakeholders. Provide support to staff regarding clinical and non-clinical matters, engage with nursing and stakeholders that will allow quality in patient care. Be flexible, responsive to patients needs and provide continuous support to staff. Manage, report, resolve complaints and manage Patients Safety. Participate in the analysis, formulation and the implementation of nursing guidelines, practices, policies and procedure. Maintain professional growth, ethical standards and development of self and subordinates through on-going training and research. Knowledge and understanding of IHRM (Ideal Hospital Realization and Maintenance) and implementation to improve service delivery. Coordinate and facilitate the implementation of CPD. Demonstrate Knowledge and understanding of grievance and disciplinary processes.

Candidates in possession of a foreign qualification will be required to furnish the Department with an evaluation certificate from the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). HR will conduct Personnel Suitability Checks (PSC) and Verification Checks. The Department reserves the right to conduct verification beyond information provided, where necessary. Failure to submit all the relevant information mentioned above with the exception of HR verification checks will result in the candidate being disqualified.
