Senior Certificate (Grade 12). Basic R425 qualification (Degree /Diploma in Nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the SANC as a professional nurse. Registration with SANC as a professional Nurse. A post-basic qualification, with a duration of at least 1 year, accredited with SANC in the relevant specialty, referred above. A minimum of 9 years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC. At least 5 years of the of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognizable experience in child nursing science (specialty) after obtaining 1 year post -basic qualification in the relevant specialty. Knowledge of the scope of practice in the areas under their control. Sound knowledge of priority programs clinical guidelines, protocols, policies and procedure and best practices in nursing care service delivery. Good communication, interpersonal, negotiation, decision -making, problem solving, conflict management, counselling, teaching, mentorship and supervisory skill. Knowledge of code of conduct, Labour relations and related policies. Adherence to prescribed nursing Standards and Legal framework. Knowledge of ideal Hospital Framework. A qualification in Nursing Administration/Health Service Management is a requirement. Other Skills: Leadership, planning, organizing and co-ordination skills. Interpersonal skills including problem solving skills. Negotiation skills and conflict management. Sound knowledge of nursing care delivery approaches.
Duties :
-
Co-ordinate nursing service within the unit. Ensure that all quality and infection control initiatives are adhered to i.e. OHS/ideal hospital. Manage compliance and PSI within the ward. Participate in ethical decision making within the multidisciplinary team. Utilise a family centred approach in providing paediatric/child nursing. Ensure implementation of all child health initiatives e.g. CHIPP/SAM MDT. Ensure implementation and proper management of PMDS. Ensure appropriate implementation of Batho Pele Principles. Manage and support education, in-service training and own professional growth and that of nursing staff. Oversee disciplinary and grievance matters including monitoring and managing absenteeism. Implement consequence management for non-compliance. Participate in the analysis, formulation and implementation of nursing guidelines, practices, standards and procedure. Manage Human and material resources effectively.
