Requirements :

• Grade 12, Computer literate basic skills, a bachelor’s degree in optometry, HPCSA registration: must be registered with the health Professional Council of South Africa as an Optometrist, registration as an independent Practitioner is required, Ocular Diagnostic Privileges, experience requirements:1year of working experience. The ability to communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team and with external stakeholders. The clinical knowledge of Optometry practice, diagnostic, treatment, ability to maintain records, write reports and manage daily/monthly statistics.

Duties :

• Optometrists examine, diagnose and treat injuries and health conditions that affect the vision. Perform eye examination to check the visual system, monitor eye diseases, prescribe both spectacles and contact lenses, perform low vison rehabilitation and visual therapy, write prescription within the scope of practice, work effectively within a multidisciplinary team (Ophalmologist and Medical officers), attend team meetings and administrative tasks including collecting statistics, report writing and record keeping. Attend CPD training and self-development programmes

Only shortlisted candidates will be required/requested to submit certified copies of qualifications, service certificate and other relevant documents on or before the interview. Candidates in possession of a foreign qualification will be required to furnish the Department with an evaluation certificate from the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). HR will conduct Personnel Suitability Checks (PSC) and Verification Checks. The Department reserves the right to conduct verification beyond information provided, where necessary. Failure to submit all the relevant information mentioned above with the exception of HR verification checks will result in the candidate being disqualified.
