Requirements :

  • Occupational Therapy degree. Registration with HPCSA as Occupational Therapist. Current registration with the HPCSA. Degree in Occupational Therapy. Completion of community service year in Occupational Therapy. Current registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist independent practitioner, plus current registration for 2026/2027. Work exposure or further training and education will be an advantage. Experience for Grade1: 0-5 years, for Grade 2: 10 -19 years and Grade 3: 20years. Knowledge, skill and competence required: computer literacy (MS Word & Excel and Outlook). Knowledge of public service legislations, policies and procedures. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently, interact with patients, other therapists, family members/caregivers and others. Ability to interact and be member of a multidisciplinary team. Good time management skills, analytical thinking, independent decision making and problem-solving skills and willingness to rotate within the substructure. Coordinate & manage OT services for a designated area. People management, rehab care workers, students and volunteers. Liaise and collaborate with stakeholders. Screen, assess and intervene as required to appropriate levels of care.

Duties :

  • Render Occupational Therapy services by assessing and treating all adult and paediatric patients with psychiatric disorders, within allocated clinical load. Assist with other clinical loads as needed, including individual and group therapy. Ensure provision of quality occupational therapy service that complies with the standards and norms as indicated by the Health Policies of South Africa. Assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating evidence based /client centred therapies regarding OT services. Partake in allocated administrative duties, including completion of placement/work reports. Adhere to provincial, hospital and departmental policies, procedures, guidelines ad regulations. Implement sectional and provincial quality assurance measures. Identify and report on risks. To work as part of the MDT and communicate effectively with all stakeholders. Follow the correct channels of communication. Oversee allocated officials. Facilitate and participate in professional and generic CPD activities/programs. Plan, supervise and execute student training. Exercise care with all equipment and consumables. Participate in all other duties allocated by supervisor.
