Requirements :

• Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification. Basic R425 qualification (i.e. Diploma/Degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with SANC as Professional Nurse. A post – basic nursing qualification, with a duration of at least 1 year, accredited with SANC in the specialty referred above. Registration with SANC a Professional Nurse. A minimum of 9 years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse in General Nursing. At least 5 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate /recognizable experience in in the specialty (Advanced Midwifery) with specific emphasis to Labour Ward and Post Natal wards, after obtaining the 1 year post basic qualification in the relevant specialty and be registered with SANC. A qualification in Nursing Administration/Health Service Management is a requirement. Knowledge of Ideal Hospital Framework, code of conduct, Labour Relations and related policies, as well as the prescribed nursing standards and Legal framework. Knowledge of Nursing care processes and procedures. Other Skills: Leadership, organizational decision-making management, problem solving, planning and co-ordination skills. Interpersonal skills including conflict management. procedures and policies relevant to nursing care.

Duties :

• Demonstrate an in- depth understanding of the scope of practice in the areas under their control. Sound knowledge of priority programs clinical guidelines, Protocols, policies and procedure and the best practices in nursing care service delivery. Develop and maintain constructive working relationships with nursing and other stakeholders. Implement decision – making, problem solving, conflict management, counselling, teaching, mentorship and supervisory skills. Ensure that all quality and infection control initiative are adhered to i.e. OHS/ideal hospital. Ensure implementation and proper management of PMDS. Ensure appropriate implementation of Batho- Pele principles. Manage and support education, in – service training and own professional grow and that of nursing staff. Oversee disciplinary and grievance matters including monitoring and managing absenteeism. Implement consequences management for non-compliance. Implement effective utilization and supervision of human, material and financial resources.
