Requirements :

  • Matric, A Degree (NQF level 7) as recognized by SAQA in Health, Social Science/ Work, or any other relevant qualification. Minimum Five (5) years’ practical experience in an Employee Health and Wellness environment in the public sector of which three years must be at supervisory level. Registration with a Professional Body. Driver’s license will be an added advantage. Knowledge/skills/competency: Knowledge of the PSA, PSR, DPSA and EHW Strategic Framework and related policies. Ability to manage highly confidential information. Relevant Employee Health and Wellness programme training. Knowledge of Employee Assistance Programmes. Knowledge of Public Finance Prescripts and policies. Experience in stakeholder engagement. Experience in planning and coordinating the implementation of EHW programmes. Ability to provide vision and setting direction for the unit. Planning and execution skills. Report writing, Counselling, Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills, Decisive, Able to work under pressure, Able to work independently, Professional, Strategic, Influential. Organizing and project planning, proven Computer skills. Coordination and facilitation skills. Applicant should be prepared to undergo medical surveillance.

Duties :

  • Overall management of the Employee Health and Wellness Programme (EHWP) - Managing complex issues and ensuring sound EHWP practices - Implementing EHWP pillars, identifying and referring troubled employees, promoting wellness - Referring employees to external providers, designing internal SOP’s in line with provincial/national policies and guidelines. Building stakeholder partnerships. Coordinating healthy lifestyle programs and organizing health days and proactive interventions - Circulating health information, coordinating peer education, and organizing EHWP events such as World AIDS Day. Ensure OHS compliance, providing OHS statistics and advice, and ensuring legislative compliance. Work with all EHWP Professionals and ensure the implementation of Occupational Health and Safety, COIDA, HIV & PHC etc services for employees. Develop programmes to address high risk hazards in the workplace. Assist in the reasonable accommodation programme for employees who present with medical and psychological conditions. Identify and maintain relationships with all relevant stakeholders for effective implementation of the programmes. Develop a EHWP costed Operational plan. Drive and report on all Strategic Wellness programmes (Wellness Wednesday, Serve with a smile). Develop an EHWP Training Programmes and Schedules for management and staff. Advise management regarding the trends that could influence overall work performance as a result of social malfunctioning. Provide the facilitation of onsite critical incident stress debriefing following traumatic incidents. Ensure continuous professional development for all EHWP Professionals. Advise the CEO on the establishment of an OHS Committee. Establish a EHWP Committee. Marketing of gym facilities and managing physical wellness programmes. Manage EHWP inquiries, trauma and emergency containment. Monitoring staff health and analyse and report on sick leave trends. Compile monthly EHWP statistics and reports. Performance management compliance.
