A basic R425 (i.e. Degree/Diploma in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with SANC as a Professional nurse. Registration with SANC as a Professional nurse. A minimum of 8 years appropriate experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with SANC in general nursing. At least 3 years of the period referred to the above must be appropriate/recognizable experience at management level. A qualification in Nursing Management /Health services is a requirement. Experience in General nursing care processes and procedures, quality assurance, patient experience care, patient’s safety, infection prevention and control, and relevant legal frameworks e.g. Ideal Hospital Realizations Framework. Other Skills: knowledge and insight into the relevant legal framework such as Nursing act, scope of practice, and basic knowledge of the Labour Relations Act. Understanding of Public Service Regulations. Good ethical practices, caring attitude, quality patient care, Multi -cultural, nursing advocacy, patient support, planning, organizing, conflict and personnel management as well as administrative skills. Leadership and coordination. Ability to take charge and make appropriate independent decisions. Display empathy for patients, promoting advocacy and facilitating holistic treatment and care. Knowledge of administrative policies and guidelines. Preparedness to work under stressful conditions. In-depth understanding of legislation and ethical practices relating to public service, public health, nursing and other health professions acts.
Duties :

Provide leadership and supervision of all staff for the provision of effective and efficient, comprehensive holistic nursing care on night duty within the professional ethical and legal framework. Coordinate and manage effective bed and patient flow management, in collaboration with the clinical and nursing teams. Maintain constructive working relationship within nursing and other stakeholders. Participate in analysis, formulation of and implementation of the nursing guidelines protocols and standard operating procedures. Maintain professional growth/ethical standards and development of self and subordinates. Demonstrate basic understanding and implementation of HR, Financial policies and practices. Communicate effectively with the patients, supervisors, other health professionals and junior colleagues including writing of complex report when required. Work effectively and amicably at the supervisory level with the person of diverse intellectual, cultural and racial or religious differences. Manage human resources, monitor and ensure proper utilization of financial and physical resources.
