Requirements :

  • Minimum requirement: Abet level 2 or equivalent. The candidate must be initiative, have problem solving skills, good interpersonal relations, and sound communication skills; must be able to work shifts including night, weekends, and public holidays; must be honest and reliable; must have ability to cope with the physical demands of the position; Ability to work independently and in a team. Must be self-motivated. High level of reliability. Good customer skills and competencies. Good communication skills. Basic understanding of Policies (Batho Pele Principles, Patients Right Charter, Occupational Health and Safety, Six Priorities, Food service management policy, and National Core Standards). Applicant should be prepared to undergo medical surveillance.

Duties :

  • Perform routine task in the food service unit. Perform the general cleaning task assigned to you and maintain hygiene and safety measures in the unit. Prepare food, keeping the kitchen neat and nicely packed, ensure that the food trolley is always clean. Wash crockery after use. Serve meals three times a day including tea and coffee. Clean kitchen utensils and equipment. Keep stock of kitchen utensils and equipment. Apply hygiene and safety measures. Maintain quality control measures of all food provided. Removal of garbage disposal. Prepare food, snack and beverages (water, tea, coffee, milk, sugar and cold drinks). Setup and convey crockery, cutlery and equipment according to request. Responsible for food supplies and report waste and losses. Adhere to timelines. Cleaning of equipment. Attend to coordinated trainings. Attend to sectional meetings. Adhere to Batho Pele Principals. Professionalism: Client service, dress code and time management. Adhere to any legal instruction given to you by a senior staff member. Treat all clients and colleagues with dignity and respect. Adhere to all catering service policies and procedures. Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA). Comply with the Performance Management and Development System (Contracting, quarterly reviews and final assessment).
