Requirements :

  • Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Registrar. Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Registrar. No experience required after registration with HPCSA as a Medical Registrar. Knowledge: knowledge and experience in medical emergency. Skills: good written and verbal communication skills and ability to work under pressure. The following will be added advantage: Ultrasound courses, equivalent, research, and other emergency medicine-related courses.

Duties :

  • Perform duties according to guidelines from the Department of Emergency Medicine, University of Witwatersrand, and Colleges of Medicine of South Africa. Perform Commuted Overtime. Clinical training, teaching, and assisting in the examination of undergraduate and postgraduate students. The incumbent will be responsible for interviewing, investigating, diagnosing, and overseeing the treatment of patient-related administrative duties. Participation in departmental meetings, journal clubs, case presentations, lectures, and ward rounds. Ensure that administration and record keeping is done in the department. Undertaking research. Attending and presenting at academic meetings. Encourage good working relationships between colleagues and departments. Availability for ongoing assessments. Signing annual performance agreements and availability for quarterly reviews.
