Requirements :

  • Grade 12. A basic qualification accredited with SANC in terms of Government Notice 425 (diploma/ degree) in nursing or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse. Current registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse. A minimum of 7 years appropriate/ recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. At least 1 year of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognizable experience handling quality assurance matters. Added advantage – management qualification or currently studying, experience in a clinical speciality area, Knowledge Hub certificates of complaints and PSI management. Understanding of quality assurance standards and quality improvement standards to improve and sustain patient clinical outcomes, and other relevant legal frameworks such as: PAIA, National Health Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Patient Rights Charter, Batho-Pele principles, Public Service Regulations, Labour Relations Act, Disciplinary Code and Procedure, etc. Analytic skills to identify and manage risks associated with complaints and PSIs. Leadership, organisational, decision making and problem-solving abilities within the limit of the public sector and institutional policy framework. Interpersonal skills including public relations, negotiating, conflict handling and counselling skills. Financial and budgetary knowledge pertaining to the relevant resources under management. Insight into procedures and policies pertaining to hospital management. Computer literacy

Duties :

  • Support managers and ensure compliance with Ideal Realization Hospital Maintenance Framework and Regulated Norms and Standards. Support managers in improving and upholding customer care principles. Coordinate management of complaints and PSIs in line with National guidelines. Identification of trends in complaints and patient safety incidents (PSIs), make recommendations and monitor the implementation of quality improvement plans and mitigating strategies. Participate in clinical audits. Conduct training of employees on Quality Assurance matters. Submit reports on due time. Communicate with all stakeholders, external and internal about Quality Assurance matters. Perform any other duties delegated by the supervisor.

Personnel Suitability Checks (PSC) –Verification (Reference checks- Provide at least 3 off which one must be immediate supervisor and must be contactable, the Department shall reserve the right to conduct verification beyond names provided, where necessary.
