Requirements :

  • A Basic R425 qualification (i.e. Diploma/Degree in Nursing) or equivalent that allows registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse. A post basic nursing qualification with a duration of at least one year, accredited with the SANC in Advanced Midwife and Neonatal Nursing Science. A proof of registration with SANC will be requested from shortlisted candidates. Minimum of 04 years appropriate /recognisable experience in the speciality after obtaining registration as Professional Nurse in General Nursing. Will be expected to work shifts, and over weekends. Sound knowledge and understanding of Nursing and Health Service-Related Acts, Legislation and Perinatal Care/Malnutrition. Knowledge and experience of HIV & AIDS/ Prevent Mother to Child Transmission / Reproductive Health / Family Planning. Leadership, sound interpersonal and motivational skills. Analytical thinking, independent decision- making and problem – solving skills.

Duties :

  • Manage, co-ordinate and facilitate Basic Ante Natal package of Care including HIV&AIDS, PMTCT and Women’s Health to patients within set standards and professional /legal framework. Effective utilization of resources (i.e. Human, Financial and Physical – equipment and consumables). Maintain professional growth/ ethical standards and self-development compliance to professional, legal and ethical regulations governing nursing and standard operating procedures related to Maternal and Child Health. Provide patient and family education according to individual needs and participate in research activities. Information management documentation, statistical data collection and capturing. Liaise, advise and effectively communicate with the relevant internal and external stakeholders for continuity of patient care. Carry out any duties as requested by supervisor, clinic manager, or any senior person.
