Requirements :

  • MBCHB - Radiology experience is an added advantage. Proof of registration as an independent practitioner and current annual registration with HPCSA. Experience required after registration with HPCSA in A Radiology department, must have completed internship and community service as per requirements of the professional body, computer literacy essential, (Digital equipment). Excellent time management with written and verbal communication skills to adequately do radiology reports. Good inter-personal skill with colleagues and other departments. Honesty, integrity and high work ethics. Must be able to sometimes work independently with little supervision. Must have basics knowledge in interpreting and reporting CT scans and Knowledge of Public Service legislation, policies and procedures.

Duties :

  • Work in CT scan in conjunction with the consultant and give appropriate reports to each study. Provide typed reports to the clinicians – have some typing skills. Consult a senior MO or consultant where you have limitations. Work in Ultrasound providing adequate reports –including mobile and cranial USS. Work in ward reporting other stations available – breast section; fluoroscopy, interventional- biopsies / FNAs assisted by the consultant. Be flexible and versatile to change workstations according to the needs of the department. Work independently most of the time at any station asking for help where you have limitations. Be present at work 8H00 – 16h00 Monday to Friday – be punctual. Be willing to teach MOs from other departments basic reporting of scants –e.g. CT brains for trauma with bleeds. Be willing to do consults with other departments if there is a need. Be flexible and accommodating consultants from other departments After hours/ Overtime duties: 16H00 – 8H00 Overtime duties are compulsory - everybody get paid commuted overtime. This is to make sure the hospital gets a full 24 Hours service from radiology. Work 80 Hours of overtime every month preferably onsite. Be able to do all CT scans after-hours providing reports timeously. Consult and assist other department’s – flexible. While on overtime alone, you are leader of the team and taking responsibility as such.
