Requirements :

  • Basic R425 qualification (i.e. Diploma or Degree in Nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse. Degree or Diploma in Nursing Administration will be an added advantage. A minimum of nine (9) years appropriate/recognizable experience in Nursing after registration as a professional nurse with SANC in General Nursing. At least four (4) years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognizable experience at management level. Current registration with SANC. Knowledge and understanding of Quality Assurance program especially Complaints, Compliments & Suggestions (CSS) Management and Patient Experience of Care(PEC) guidelines, Health Regulations, policies and Acts. Computer literacy (i.e. Ms. Word, PowerPoint and Excel). Ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary context. Analytic thinking, independent decision making and problem-solving skills. Applicant must be in possession of a valid driver’s license and willing to travel extensively.

Duties :

  • Provide leadership within the Sub-Directorate in the implementation of the Departmental Strategic Plan and Annual Performance Plan (APP). Develop operational plans in line with the APP. Provide guidance in the process of strengthening Quality Assurance program of reducing complaints and achieving positive patient experience of care in health establishments by coordinating and supporting the facility managers. Support health establishments in development, implementation and monitoring of Quality Improvement Plans (QIPs) aimed at reducing complaints and achieving positive patient experience of care. Develop policies, guidelines and indicators with regard to Complaints, Compliments and Suggestion (CCS) and PEC. Promote compliance and implementation of the National Guideline to Manage CCS in Health Sector of South Africa and National Guideline on Conducting PEC Surveys in Public Health Establishments guideline, and Provincial SOPs. Support health establishments in the investigation of priority complaints, conducting redress meetings and write reports. Collate monthly, quarterly and annual Quality Assurance reports from health establishments and consolidate into a comprehensive Provincial reports. Analyze statistics and utilize information to plan and institute measures for improvement. Facilitate/coordinate relevant trainings on Customer Care programs. Monitor compliance with Customer Care indicators as per Annual Performance Plan. Monitor compliance with standard of practice and conduct supervisory support visits to institutions. Monitor creation of an environment that promotes the rights of patients, advocating and facilitating proper treatment and care, and ensuring that the principles of Batho Pele are adhered to.
