Requirements :

  • NQF Level 6/7 qualification in Economics/Development Economics as recognized by SAQA. minimum of 3 years’ experience in SMME’S, Cooperative Support and LED and minimum of 3 years in an Assistant Director position. Driver's license is essential.

Duties :

  • Design and develop appropriate SMME’s and Co-operatives’ support strategies and programmes. Promote the cooperatives concept in ensuring the development and growth of cooperatives in key sectors of the Gauteng economy. Design and develop measures and interventions to support cooperatives, ensure implementation thereof. Facilitate the implementation of the ESD programmes. Advise the beneficiaries and other stakeholders on required deliverables. Creation of sustainable enterprises in and around the communities. Developing and maintaining an information library of market intelligence in different sectors and making such available to our SMMEs programme beneficiaries and other emerging businesses. Implement programs giving effect to Township Economic Development Act. Project management. Identification of supply and demand opportunities within the communities and the mine, supporting, assisting, and training current and potential entrepreneurs. Managing the Enterprise Development Hub, mine location and create and manage relationships with the communities, entrepreneurs, municipalities, and other stakeholders. Communicating with beneficiaries, mentors, and other stakeholders on required deliverables and other general notices and reminders. Conduct SMME needs analysis. Researching nationally and globally for ESD trends to provide input on how to continuously improve performance in this area. Provide support to local economic development initiatives and processes in municipalities. Implement spatially referenced economic development initiatives. Establish linkages between municipalities and other agents of economic development. Coordinate departmental analysis of draft and final Municipal Integrated Development Plans. Collation of the success articles and maintaining a library of the development of our ESD programmes. Assist businesses with preparation of required material and ensure all required material is produced in required format with required timelines. Review all material produced by businesses and advise appropriate action based upon the quality thereof. Ensure all businesses submit documentation and input as and when required. Manage the performance of supervised staff, develop staff. Motivate staff and cultivate a culture of service delivery. Monitor budget expenditure.
