Requirements :

Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as MBCHB or equivalent. Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner or Grade 2: A minimum of 5 (five) year’s appropriate experience as Medical Officer after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner.
Grade 3: A minimum of 10 (ten) year’s appropriate experience as Medical Officer after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner. Experience in Surgery or a Post graduate diploma in Surgery will be an advantage.
Duties :

The incumbent will be responsible to interview, investigate, diagnose, and oversee the treatment of patient related administrative duties; participating in all activities of the clinical discipline in relation to auditing and teaching; and preparing and writing of presentations. Supervising junior doctors (undergraduate students, interns, and community service doctors). Available to perform commuted overtime (night, weekend, and public holiday) to provide continuous uninterrupted care of patients. Attendance of relevant departmental meetings like morbidity and mortality, near miss and completing medico-legal documents timeously. Improve quality of care by providing appropriate clinical care. Reduce medical litigation by exercising good clinical ethos. Implement and monitor adherence to Ideal Hospital Realization and Maintenance Framework. Performance of practical procedures relevant to Surgery. Participation in departmental meetings and case presentations. Must be service delivery orientated: Program planning, implementation and evaluation and Quality assurance programs. Current Health and Public Service legislation, regulations and policy. Good communication, organizational and conflict resolution skills.
