Requirements :

  • Grade 12 and National Diploma at NQF Level 6 in Safety Management or related qualification (accredited certificate at NQF level 5 or equivalent). One to three years’ experience in the implementation of OHS legislation. Registration with the south African Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (SAIOSH) or South African Institute of Hygiene (SAIOH) or South African Council for project Management & Construction (SACPCMP). Knowledge in Occupational Health and Safety Management and related systems. Knowledge of OHS Act (Act 85 of 1993) and relevant Government Regulations. Skills: Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written), high level investigative skills, report writing skills, planning ability, computer literacy (including Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint). The following will be an added advantage: Exposure to Hospital Environment and valid driver’s license.

Duties :

  • Ensure overall supervision, coordination, implementation and compliance or SHERQ programmes. Coordinate the functionality of an OHS committee. Identification of hazards. Conduct regular safety inspections. Develop reports. Facilitate compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA). Promote safety awareness in working environment and continuous training. Ensure adequate support to team members. Ensure a culture of innovation and performance. Ensure the occupational health and safety rules are observed in a working environment. Distribution of emergency procedures and fire safety programs. Conduct emergency procedures and work disaster management team. Assist with the promotion of health and safety programs. Assist in the Basic Occupational Health and Safety policy implementation. Attend to ad hoc queries pertaining to Occupational Health and Safety measures. Procurement of goods and services related to OHS, e.g. Hygiene survey, medical surveillance, PPE etc.
