Requirements :

  • Minimum Requirements: Grade 12 certificate or equivalent. (Standard 10, NQF Level 4, N3). A National Diploma or Degree in Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field. Good understanding of relevant legislation, prescripts, systems, and procedures of the Public Service. Excellent writing, sub-editing, and media management skills. Proven experience in multimedia, photography, videography, graphic design, branding, event planning, content management, editing, and proofreading. Strong project management abilities. Computer literacy in the Microsoft Office suite. Excellent communication (verbal and written), presentation, and reporting skills. Good interpersonal relations. Ability to work under pressure and beyond normal working hours when required. Knowledge of departmental policies and procedures. Strong planning, organizing, listening, observation, and problem-solving skills. A valid driver's license will be an added advantage.

Duties :

  • Draft and distribute media statements, press releases, and maintain relations with media stakeholders. Develop, edit, and proofread high-quality communication materials for various platforms, including print and digital media. Ensure consistent application of the departmental corporate identity (CI) and manage branding initiatives. Plan, coordinate, and assist in overseeing departmental events, campaigns, and exhibitions. Produce and disseminate internal newsletters, notices, and updates to improve staff communication. Assist in the development and implementation of communication strategies aligned with departmental objectives. Manage communication projects and liaise with stakeholders and service providers. Compile media monitoring reports, event summaries, and communication performance reports. Manage departmental social media accounts and create engaging digital content. Perform duties diligently, work under pressure, and be prepared to work extended hours when required.
