Requirements :

  • Senior Certificate/Grade 12 or equivalent. At least three (3) years’ experience in Forensic Pathology Service on salary level 5 or 6. Expected to perform shift duties, including weekends and public holidays. Basic knowledge regarding the Legislative Framework regulating Forensic Pathology Service. Commitment to Batho Pele Principles. A valid driver’s license minimum Code C1 with PrDP. Basic computer skills (Proof is required). Additional competences: Verbal and written communication, time management, and interpersonal skill. Planning and organising.

Duties :

  • Supervision, guidance and leadership to subordinates. Collate and analyse information obtained to provide required statistics and quarterly reports. Ensure effective, efficient and economical training and development of personnel. Participate in preparation of budgets for the relevant financial year. Give evidence in courts of law whenever required. Provide assistant to other FPS facilities and managers in cases of disaster and major incidents. Ensure timeous submission of daily, weekly monthly, quarterly and annual reports. Effective and efficient collection, storage and processing of bodies. Safekeeping of the deceased, documents and belongings. Safeguard evidence, information, exhibits and property from death scenes. Assist in rendering an efficient forensic autopsy process, which includes evisceration, dissection, and scribing following set standards and guidelines under Forensic Pathologists' supervision. Safeguarding exhibits, specimens, statements and reports. Completing and administration of statements and documentation during and after the forensic pathology process. Assist in the up keeping of facility and equipment hygienically in terms of Occupational Health and Safety. Implement and practice Batho Pele Principles. Ensure timeous submission of daily, weekly monthly, quarterly and annual reports. Implementing and practicing Batho Pele Principle is mandatory.
