Requirements :

  • Three-year National Diploma/Degree (NQF 6) in Health Science or equivalent qualification. A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Health Promotion. 3 years relevant managerial (Assistant Director Level) experience. A valid South African Driver’s License. Must be willing to travel and work irregular hours and during public holidays when the need arises. Ability to work independently and under pressure. COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: Excellent Microsoft office in particular word, and power point with excellent presentation skills. Appropriate Coordination and negotiation skills. An ability to supervise. Ability to solve problems with proven analytic skills. A high level of diligence and commitment in ensuring that all duties are performed within tight and stipulated timeframes with outputs that are of the required quality. Knowledge of the concept of the Departmental Annual Performance and Strategic Plans. Knowledge of Health Promotion strategy and Ottawa Charter.

Duties :

  • Compile Monthly, Quarterly and Annual reports and be ready to provide Portfolio of Evidence to collaborate these reports Execute any related activities as directed by the immediate supervisor. Manage the promotion of COVID-19 and other Disease Outbreaks guidelines. Define budgetary requirements for the function as per department guidelines and the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Supply Chain Management Policies and risks management. Draw up and control an annual Health Promotion (HP) business plan and budget. Initiate, coordinate and support the implementation of health promotion policies and protocols. Supervision, motivation and development of the subordinates with management of dynamics of the team. Conduct and supervise any necessary research needed to improve the management of Health Promotion. Formulate and review all necessary provincial policies, guidelines, strategies in consultation with relevant stakeholders. Draw up and control an annual Health Promotion (HP) business plan and budget. Develop and maintain procedures and processes for provision of quality Health Promotion in the province. Build Health Promotion partners with other Government Departments, the private sector, non-profit and non-government organizations. Hold regular meetings with all stakeholders in Health Promotion. Ensure thorough implementation of priority Health Promotion programmes in the department. Manage and lead a team of staff to achieve operational and strategic objectives and indicators for health promotion in clinics and other settings. Coordinate Health Promotion activities for the prevention Non-Communicable and Communicable including outbreaks. Coordinate implementation of Healthy Lifestyles programmes. Support Maternal and Child Health Programmes (EPI, IMCICC, Healthy Environments for Children, Health Promoting Crèches, women and maternal health promotion, etc), TB and HIV & AIDS, mental health, substance abuse programmes and violence. Strengthen strategies for Health Promotion in schools and the establishment of health promoting schools. Support health promotion programmes in workplaces. Coordinate and monitor continuous personal development programmes for Health Promoters. Write routine and ad hoc reports in accordance with Departmental requirements. Ensure staff development and performance management by implementation of related Human Resource Policies. Provide the necessary support during Disease Outbreaks and Campaigns. Capacitate and develop sub-districts Health Promotion coordinators through training and supportive supervision. Organise, attend and chair Health Promotion meetings. Develop and Implement the Health Promotion strategy for the Department instituted by the National Health Department. Facilitate vulnerability assessment to evaluate the impact of climate change on health.
