Requirements :

• • Grade 12 (Matric) or an equivalent qualification. • Basic Ambulance Assistant (BAA) qualification. • Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) certification will be an added advantage. • A minimum of two (2) years' relevant experience in an Emergency Communication Centre, Emergency Medical Services, public safety communications, or a similar operational call centre environment. • Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and knowledge of web applications • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Duties :

• The successful candidates will be responsible for: • Receiving and processing emergency and non-emergency calls in a professional and courteous manner. • Obtaining accurate information from callers to determine the nature, location, and priority of incidents. • Prioritising emergency calls using approved Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) protocols and Standard Operating Procedures. • Dispatching the most appropriate emergency medical resources using the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and radio communication equipment. • Providing approved pre-arrival medical instructions to callers where applicable. • Monitoring ambulance movements, response times, and resource availability. • Maintaining continuous communication with operational crews and other emergency service agencies. • Capturing and maintaining accurate electronic records of all incidents. • Coordinating responses during major incidents, disasters, and mass casualty events. • Ensuring compliance with departmental policies, operational procedures, and relevant legislation, including the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). • Delivering professional, compassionate, and customer-centred service at all times. • Ability to work shifts, including nights, weekends, public holidays, and overtime when required.
