Requirements :

  • Basic R425 qualification (i.e. Diploma/Degree in Nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse. A minimum of 9 years of appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing. Post-basic nursing qualification in Primary Health Care (Clinical Nursing Science, Health Assessment, Treatment and Care) with a duration of at least one year accredited with the SANC. At least 5 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognizable experience in Primary Health Care (Clinical Nursing Science, Health Assessment, Treatment and Care) after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification. Current proof of registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse. Diploma/Degree in Nursing Administration/Health Service Management and computer literacy are required.

Duties :

  • Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices and how it impacts on service delivery. Ensure clinical nursing practice by the nursing team or unit in accordance with the scope of practice. Work as a part of the multidisciplinary team at unit level to ensure good nursing care by the nursing team. Able to manage own work, time and that of junior colleagues to ensure proper nursing service in the unit. Display concern for patients, promoting, advocating and facilitating proper treatment and care and ensuring that the unit adheres to the principles of Batho Pele. Ensure that clinical protocols, treatment guidelines are Implemented and adhered. Provide clinical mentorship, support and supervision to Professional Nurses and other stuff. demonstrate effective communication with patients, supervisors, other health professionals and junior colleagues including more complex report writing. Demonstrate basic computer literacy as a support tool to enhance service delivery. Identify training and development needs of staff and facilitate in-service training and Continuous Professional Development (CPD). Must be prepared to do hospital supervision after hours, work nightshifts and relieve Area Manager when need arises. Have knowledge of Ideal Hospital Realisation Framework. Ability to function as part of the team and display good professional image.
