Requirements :

  • Matric plus NQF level 6/ National Diploma in Social Science, Development, Public Administration, or relevant qualification as recognised by SAQA, coupled with a minimum of 3-5 years’ relevant experience at administration level in local Government/ or proven experience in community and public participation. Competencies: Good people relations and facilitation capabilities to interact with diverse teams across municipalities, sector departments and stakeholder; Good understanding of practices related to PP in government and community development processes; Relationship and partnership building; Knowledge and understanding of Public Service Regulations; Knowledge and understanding of legislation related to on Public Participation; Knowledge of policies, guidelines and methods for effective public participation; Excellent Computer Literacy skills; Good Report writing skills; Good Problem-solving skills; Good people management skills; Good coordination skills and able to convene and manage PP processes for multi stakeholder engagements in public participation processes; Good Network and relationship building skills. A valid driver’s license.

Duties :

  • Coordinate implementation the directorate’s public participation functions, processes and support to municipalities; Coordinate implementation and quality assure compilation of municipal reports; Coordinate implementation of PP related work programmes and stakeholder engagement in close collaboration with Municipalities and relevant sector departments; Coordinate implementation in consultation with municipalities the identification, design and implementation of customized relevant training and capacity building opportunities for municipalities; Coordinate implementation of advice, knowledge sharing and action learning programmes with for municipalities in support of ward committees and public participation function; Coordinate implementation of advisory services on implementation of strategies, policy and practices; Coordinate implementation of advisory support to municipalities and stakeholders on relevant good practices related to public participation
