Requirements :

Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as an Orthopaedic Specialist. Must be a specialist with FC Orth and MMed (Ortho) degrees. Have a special interest in Foot and Ankle Surgery and Orthopaedic trauma and will have to demonstrate teaching experience at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, alongside a proven research track record that includes at least one peer-reviewed publication. Candidates must have experience in the management of general orthopaedic trauma, and multidisciplinary patient care. Membership and active participation in South Africa Orthopaedic Association and relevant sub-speciality societies will be advantageous. A demonstratable experience in foot and ankle surgery, a fellowship training and membership in the South African Foot and Ankle Society will be advantageous.

The successful candidate will join the Department of Orthopaedics at Steve Biko Academic Hospital and cluster hospitals, where responsibilities will include providing specialist clinical services, performing surgical procedures, conducting outpatient clinics and ward rounds, and participating in the department`s academic programs. The role further entails active involvement in teaching, supervising, and mentoring students and junior staff, as well as contributing meaningfully to the department`s research output through the development, execution, and publication of research projects. Participation in clinical governance, academic meetings, and departmental outreach activities is expected as part of the broader mission to deliver high quality orthopaedic care and advance academic excellence.
