Requirements :

  • A grade 12 Certificate, a Basic qualification in nursing registered with the SANC in terms of Government Notice 425 (i.e. Diploma/Degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse. Post basic qualifications in Nursing Education and Nursing Management/Administration, both qualifications registered with the SANC. A SAQA recognized NQF level 9 (Master’s Degree in Nursing) tertiary qualification in Nursing. A PhD degree will serve as a recommendation .A minimum of thirteen (13) years appropriate/recognizable nursing experience after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC of which nine (9 ) years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognizable experience in Nursing Education after obtaining post-basic qualification in Nursing Education and at least five (5 ) years must be appropriate/recognizable managerial experience at a Nursing College or Higher Nursing Education Institution. Knowledge and understanding of the legislations, related regulations and policies in the public sector in particular in the health sector and management of a Nursing Training Institution or a Higher Nursing Education Institution. Driver’s licence is an inherent requirement. Computer literacy. Competencies: Strategic capability and leadership, Programme and Project Management, Financial Management, Change Management, People Management and Empowerment. Service delivery innovation, Problem solving and analysis, Communication, Client orientation and customer focus.

Duties :

  • Provides leadership and direction to ensure the effective and efficient planning and delivery of wide range of Nursing Education and Training Programmes (undergraduate and postgraduate). Provides strategic specialist advice and recommendations to management in relation to nursing training programmes to address the skills shortages within the Gauteng Province. Provides leadership on issues and standards associated with the delivery of nursing training programmes . Work with Chief Executive Officers and Senior Managers in managing the annual admission process of all academic programs. Develop the service delivery model for re-skilling and upskilling of nurses’ skills. Maintain close liaison and correspondence with regulatory bodies. Ensure the evaluation the impact of nursing programmes Manage strategic administrative functions of the College. Establish and manage the governance structures within the college . Monitor and evaluate quality management of programme implementation and assessment at the learning centres/campuses. Collate regular institutional performance reports and coordinate governance structure meetings. Supervise and monitor the implementation of policies, programmes, acts and regulations with regard to Nursing, advice on and facilitate the implementation of the Nursing Act and other relevant legislation. Manage the promotion of health institutional governance and leadership. Comply with the norms and standards regulations applicable to different categories of health establishments in terms of leadership and governance. Monitor full-time technical and management support to the learning centres/campuses. Establish, maintain and ensure a good working relationship within the Department and relevant stakeholders. Manage financial and human resources.

Candidates in possession of a foreign qualification must furnish the Department with an evaluation certificate from the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). Preference will be given to South African citizens. The performance of normal and commuted overtime, where applicable is not mandatory, however it will be based on the operational needs of the hospitals.
