Requirements :

  • A SAQA recognized NQF level 9 (Master’s Degree in Nursing) tertiary qualification in Nursing. Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a General Nurse and Midwife. Eleven (11) years’ experience as a Professional Nurse of which seven (7) years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognizable experience in a Nursing Education Institution after qualifying as a Nurse Educator. Experience in educational programme development, research and three (3) years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognizable management experience in nursing education in a College or a Higher Education Institution. A valid South African driver’s license. Computer certificate/literacy. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Transformational leadership skills. Analytical assessment and evaluation skills. Excellent report writing skills. Strategic capability and leadership. Programme and project management skills. Financial and human resource management skills. Good Communication skills (verbal and written) including presentation skills. Skilled in research development ,policy development and quality assurance. Good interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure. Relate well to a diversity of personnel and wide range of stakeholders.

Duties :

  • Develop, implement and monitor the strategic plans of the campus. Market the corporate image of the campus. Oversee the selection of students for enrolment with the campus in consultation with management and hospital Chief Executive Officers. Develop policy guidelines for nurse education and training. Provide learning and teaching resources. Conduct quality assurance. Supervise the setting of examination and commissioning of examination results. Liaise with statutory body and other institutions of Higher Learning. Manage support services (HR, Library, Student Affairs, Counselling, etc.). Plan and monitor the implementation of a wide range of Nursing Education and Training Programmes. Lead academic oversight committees. Develop monitoring reports to ensure oversight committees are updated on developments in the institution. Lead strategic and operational planning of the institution. Direct the total quality management system of the institution. Develop regular institutional performance reports. Manage financial and human resources.
