Requirements :

  • Grade 12 plus Honours degree (NQF level 8) in Policing, Criminal Investigations and Environmental Law or relevant qualifications as recognised by SAQA. Minimum of 6 years’ experience in criminal investigations and law enforcement activities/environment. Successfully completed Environmental Management Inspector training will be an added advantage. Valid driver’s license.COMPETENCIES: Computer Literacy; Good communication, writing and networking skills with stakeholders both in government and outside of government spheres. Ability and competency in interpreting and implementing policy, legislation, and guidelines. Good conflict management skills. Good project management, interpersonal, coordination and document management skills. Knowledge of Criminal law and Procedures, Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Law of Evidence, and interpretation of Statutes. In-depth knowledge of Environmental law

Duties :

  • Analyse conditions on authorisations for site inspection purposes. Conduct site inspections. Conduct joint operations with other role players and organs of state. Compile reports on activities of duties and tasks. Complete and submit monthly, Quarterly and Annual reports. Enforcement of environmental legislation and investigate criminal offences for prosecution within the Gauteng Province. Coordinate, manage and undertake investigations and prosecutions for the Department. Compile case docket. Obtain witness/es statement. Register case docket with the SAPS. Court attendance on cases handed over to the NPA. Liaison with SAPS, NPA and other stakeholders. Coordinate and assist other directorates, other levels of government and other departments, stakeholders and agencies on joint operations. Project management of strategic compliance and enforcement projects. Reporting on cases/investigations and presentation of findings. Draft and manage all relevant administrative documentation. Carry out the functions of Environmental Management Inspector (EMI).
