An Appropriate qualification which allows registration with Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Practitioner. Registration with the HPCSA as independent Medical Practitioner and proof of current registration. Post Qualification, at least 6 months of clinical psychiatry experience on the Gauteng Health Facilities affiliated to the University of Witwatersrand (WITS) academic platform. An Additional qualification i.e., Part I of the FCPsych (SA) and/or the Diploma in Mental Health will serve as an additional advantage.
Duties :

The incumbent will be responsible for clinical assessment of psychiatric patients. Develop and execute evidence based and compassionate patient care plans. Assess and manage medical and psychiatric emergencies. Provide counselling and education of patients and families. Ensure proper clinical record keeping including laboratory results .Prepare referral letters and discharge summaries for all patients. Participate in wards / departmental administrative duties. Work within a multi-disciplinary team and reporting of all conflicts of interest and corruption. Participate in outreach, academic and research programs at any of the Gauteng health facilities affiliated to the Department of Psychiatry at the University of the Witwatersrand. Perform Clinical duties and at any of the Gauteng Health facilities affiliated to the Department of Psychiatry at the University of the Witwatersrand, as well as satellite sites e.g. Witrand/Tshepong hospital complex. Attend the psychiatry teaching programme as per the department of Psychiatry at Wits University. Conduct research under supervision, with respect to the attainment of the MMED degree. Train in the various psychotherapy modalities. Teach and supervise medical and undergraduate students as well as medical interns.
